I first learned about PageGroup through a friend who was an apprentice in the business at the time. I didn’t know what he was doing, which made me curious about his work. Fast forward, I was interviewed by several people who were warm and inviting. I eventually joined PageGroup in November 2021 as an apprentice. Since then, I have been promoted four times, most recently to Associate Manager.

How have you grown with PageGroup?

I don’t have the loudest personality, nor am I an extrovert. I’m still known as someone who speaks few words, but PageGroup has helped me build confidence in myself. When I first started, I was extremely nervous about making calls, but that feeling has mostly faded. Now, it’s about connecting well with different personalities and listening intently rather than feeling the need to speak all the time.

What is the best thing about working for PageGroup?

A few things come to mind, but the best one is the trust that leaders place in me to make decisions that benefit the business. I used to rely heavily on their judgment, but as I progress, we are encouraged to think independently, develop plans to grow a market, and identify key focus areas. Seeing my team grow - both in portfolio and members - gives me a strong sense of fulfillment while also being financially rewarding.

What advice would you give to graduates looking to join the recruitment industry?

The industry requires hard work. Good and successful recruiters put in long hours to reach as many people as possible. It will initially be a numbers game as you grow your network and gain a deeper understanding of how the market thinks and acts. At the same time, it’s essential to earn the trust and confidence of your candidates and clients so they will want to work with you.
