It was 2022 when a good friend of mine encouraged me to apply to Michael Page. Four interviews later, I was looking at my very first job offer. At that point in my life, I wanted to move carefully in my first corporate role. It was important to me that I joined a company that valued and rewarded high performance but also gave its people the space to make mistakes and learn through exposure. The conversations I had with the leaders, who were hiring managers then, painted Michael Page precisely in this way – making it an easy offer to sign! Three years later, that still holds true, and saying yes to Michael Page every day has been just as easy.

How have you grown with PageGroup?

In a number of ways, really! Beyond improving in obvious areas like business development, delivery, and people and P&L management, I’ve grown a lot as a human being in general. Developing the soft skills required to be successful at this job has really bled into the personal parts of my life. Since I joined, I’ve become more action-oriented, assertive, and willing to expose myself to new things and challenges that might expand my life.

Out of all these things, though, my favorite would have to be becoming a more genuinely interested person when it comes to getting to know people. The implications this has had in my personal life have been evident and easy to appreciate!

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

This one is easy - working with a high-performance salesforce is a reward in itself. I love working with driven people who understand that their hard work creates a meaningful impact. It’s from working with a team like this that all other “rewarding aspects” of the job spring forth: closed deals, signed clients, exceeded targets, and happy customers.

Beyond that, seeing my team grow and mature is just as fulfilling. Few things are as rewarding as mentoring people and helping them reach their full potential.

What advice would you give fresh grads looking to join recruitment?

Take the leap of faith! As a fresh graduate, I understand that you probably don’t have a career master plan yet. That’s okay. Instead, have a set of non-negotiables related to the skills you want to develop.

If you are interested in nurturing your business development skills and immersing yourself in the market, headhunting is a great industry to explore. If you want to do this in a people-led and high-performance business, take my word for it and give Michael Page a shot!
